Riot Games Suspended Team Resurgence For Match Fixing

Riot Games has stated that they are banning pro Valorant players because of match fixing. They have investigated the allegations during the Resurgence vs BlackBird Ignis match during the Valorant Ignition Series on September 22, 2020.

Riot Games Banned Team Resurgence For Match Fixing

Riot Games investigation found out that players from Resurgence coordinated to bet against their own team. Malcolm “Germsg” Chung initiated the scheme and Ryan “Dreamycsgo” tan gave the capital money to use in the bet. After the bet they informed their team members about their scheme.

Here are the penalties Riot Games imposed on the involved members. This was taken from a blog post by Riot Games:

  • Justin “Boplek” Wong Chong Cheng and Sengdala “Jabtheboy” Jamnalong will be banned from VCT for 1 year
  • Du Min “Mortdecai” Yeo and Benedict “Benaf” Tan will be banned from VCT for 6 months

These penalties are considered to have begun with the original suspension date on 22 April 2021. Du Min “Mortdecai” Yeo and Benedict “Benaf” Tan will be eligible to return to VCT in October 2021. Justin “Boplek” Wong Chong Cheng and Sengdala “Jabtheboy” Jamnalong will be eligible to return to VCT in April 2022.
