Fortnite is making a triumphant return on Friday.
Fans of the original Fortnite Battle Royale may recall the humble beginnings of the competitive scene. Before the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS), Fortnite World Cup, and even seasonal Skirmish events, online competitions were entirely different.
Custom lobbies and LAN events did not exist back then, thus competitions took some ingenuity. Most were relegated to bracketed “kill races,” in which two duos would load into a teams battle to see who could get the most eliminations. Fortnite Friday became the gold standard in this regard.
Daniel “Keemstar” Keem, Fortnite Friday tournament presenter and online personality, said today that the traditional event would return shortly.

There are few descriptive details about the revival of a once-loved Fortnite tournament format. Keemstar, on the other hand, tweeted today, saying, “Fortnite Friday is back! ” He followed up with a video in which he stated that his choice was motivated by a desire to “go back to the origins” and create more game material.

Keemstar’s most recent effort to host Friday Fortnite was in 2019. He canceled the event due to Epic Games’ introduction of seasonal FNCS competitions. It’s been nearly two years, and the potential dual combinations continue to pique my interest.

Several professional players, including previous FNCS champions Mero, MackWood, Saf, and aqua, reacted warmly to the news. It will be interesting to see how the ratio of professional gamers to content makers changes in the new Fortnite Friday period. Finally, we’ll have to wait for more details from Keemstar and anyone he selects to oversee the tournament.
