The first three teams have been eliminated.
The first victims of the VALORANT Champions group stage have been identified. In their group’s elimination match, FURIA, Crazy Raccoon, and FULL SENSE were all eliminated.
Fans of VALORANT have had a busy day today. The VALORANT Champions event is in full swing, and teams are gradually claiming their playoff berths. Three squads have also been knocked and will sit out the rest of the competition.
The first match of the day finally put an end to the Acend and Vivo Keyd saga. Acend won the series and will face Envy in the Group A Winner’s match, while Vivo Keyd will face X10 CRIT in the Elimination match. Vivo Keyd will have to struggle through two more matches to make it into the playoffs, which three other teams have already failed to achieve.
Crazy Raccoon were the competition’s first victims, being eliminated by Team Secret in Group C’s Elimination match. They were swept in their first match against Team Vikings and failed to win a map against Team Secret, resulting in their elimination from the competition without winning a single map.
KRU Esports sent FURIA home as the second team on the chopping block. In their opening match of the tournament, they defeated the North American juggernaut Sentinels. They were unable to finish the series against Haven and were sent to the Group B Elimination to face KRU. FURIA made a good start to the series by winning a game on Fracture, but KRU won the next two maps to eliminate the Brazilian team.
The day’s final victim was Group D’s FULL SENSE, who were caught between a rock and a hard place. In their first match, they faced Vision Strikers and were quickly swept, sending them to the Elimination match versus Cloud9 Blue. They forced Breeze into overtime but were unable to take the series to map three, and the squad also exited the tournament without winning a single map.
Before the VALORANT Champions playoffs begin, five more clubs will be eliminated. In Group A, the next match is between Acend and Envy, and the loser will face the victor of Vivo Keyd vs. X10 CRIT.
